Edward Mann is partnering with a leading mining business in recruiting for a Project Accountant based in Gladstone, QLD.

This position will be for circa 3 months, with a chance of further project work for the right candidate. The role offers an hourly rate of up to $110, including super, with flexibility for outstanding candidates.

Although the business is based in Gladstone, they are open to candidates working under a fly-in-fly-out or remote model. Monthly travel to the Gladstone site will be required, with some flexibility around the timing

The Role:

Assist in the allocation of a fixed asset impairment charge across asset classes and reflecting this in SAP, using pre-written scripts and reconciling this back to the Statutory accounts.
Assist in the valuation of Capital Improvement Notes required to fund capital expenditure in accordance with AASB 9, based on payment streams associated with the depreciation profile of assets funded.
Assist in the Current / Non-current classification of these liabilities, based on payment streams associated with the depreciation profile of assets funded.
Assist in the valuation of the Long Service Leave provision, in accordance with AASB 119.
Assist in the valuation of the Site Closure obligation AASB 137.
Other end of Year accounting tasks, as required.

About you

Previous working experience with Fixed Assets accounting within a capital-intensive industry
CA, CPA or equivalent qualified.
Proven experience and understanding of AASB 9 - Financial Instruments, Fixed Assets.
Proven experience and understanding of AASB 136 - Impairment of (Fixed) Assets.
Proven experience and understanding of AASB 119 - Employee Benefits.
Proven experience and understanding of AASB 137 - Provisions.
Proven experience with financial / cash flow modelling in Excel.
Comfortable with some travel to the Gladstone for the duration of the assignment
Strong data analytics skills and an ability to manipulate data sets.
Ability to interact with various stakeholders, both on and off-site
Process improvement orientated, and the ability to multi-task and prioritise work.
